Engagement party fêtes Mattie Harmon, Nicholas delaHoussaye

The engagement of Mattie Jean Harmon and Nicholas DeBlanc delaHoussaye was celebrated with a festive "Great Gatsby"-themed party held at the Lafayette home of Elizabeth and Rollie Reinhardt on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Mattie is the daughter of Margaret Ann and Charles Harmon of Crowley. Her maternal grandparents are the late Nancy J. and Charles Christner of Livonia, Michigan, and her paternal grandparents are the late Marguerite and Erwin T. Harmon of Crowley.

Nicholas is the son of Maxine and William A. delaHoussaye of Crowley. He is the grandson of the late Lucille M. McGraw of Rayne, and of the late Frances and DeBlanc delaHoussaye of Crowley.

Approximately 65 guests dressed in the fashion of the "Roaring Twenties" were on hand for the event, and the Reinhardt home was decorated throughout in black and winter white in keeping with the era of Fitzgerald's famous novel.

The bride-elect was lovely in a floor length beaded blush gown paired with a 1920's-style headband made of feathers and pearls that was a special gift from her aunt Elizabeth. The prospective groom was equally dashing in a classic black tuxedo.

From the garden area of the Reinhardt home, Mattie's cousin Andrew Reinhardt and his band The Telegraph Salesmen entertained the guests with Jazz music throughout the evening.

A special signature cocktail of Champagne and St. Germain Liqueur was served prior to a delicious buffet followed by cake for dessert.

Mattie and Nicholas will exchange wedding vows on the evening of March 21, 2015, at Pointe-aux-Loups Springs Ballroom in Iota.
