Acadia Volunteers for Family and Community meet
An Acadia Volunteers for Family and Community (AVFC) Council meeting was held on Jan. 15 and hosted by the Roberts Cove Club members.
Members from Volunteers for Family and Community Roberts Cove Club presented an international program on Germany and prepared a meal of authentic German dishes. They met in the Roberts Cove German Heritage Museum, and the AVFC members enjoyed the food, surroundings and delightful hospitality.
Elaine Chatagnier, AVFC president, presided. New officers were elected as follows: Elaine Chatagnier, president; Ruth Ann Klumpp, vice president for public policy; Darleen Courville, secretary/reporter; Rosie Trahan, treasurer; JoAnn Dupuis, parliamentarian; and Josie Thevis, past president/historian.
Attending were members from the three affiliate clubs: Iota Club, Night Club and Roberts Cove Club.
Unfinished and new business items on the agenda were covered, including upcoming reports due to state, Achievement Day and the strawberry sale fund raiser. Of specific importance, the AVFC members will be hosting the LVFC Area 4 Day to be held in Acadia Parish in June and initial plans and ideas were discussed.
The LVFC Area 4 is composed of seven parishes: Acadia, Beauregard, Iberia, Jeff Davis, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion.
