Afternoon bridal shower honors Hannah Simmons

The home of Kyle and Kristina Lavergne in Roberts Cove served as the setting for a bridal shower held Sunday, July 12, 2015, in honor of Hannah Simmons of Lafayette, bride-elect of Robert-Thomas Johnson of Rayne.
Hannah is the daughter of Eric and Gizell Simmons of Lafayette, while Robert-Thomas is the son of Albert and Bonnie Johnson of Rayne.
Hosting the afternoon social were Kristina Lavergne, Linda Guilbeau, Lauren Fontenot, Diana Duhon, Kathy Richard, Cindy Orillion, Ann Zaunbrecher, Gwen Melancon, Sandy Elkins, Judy Puissegur and Norellie Fontenot.
The Lavergne home was decorated in rustic theme with burlap and lace. Arrangements including white hydrangea and roses of different hues were noted throughout the reception area. Picture collages of the couple were also found throughout the decor. Banners found throughout the home held different sayings of love, happiness and marriage. A unique burlap box held recipes for the couple by attending guests.
The main reception table was covered with a Battenburg lace tablecloth and centered with a candlelabra and ivory candles. Guests were treated to a number of refreshments, including chicken salad croissants, hummus with pita chips, Swedish meatballs, seafood salad, seven-layer dip, veggie and fruit trays, deviled eggs, hot rice, broccoli salad, cheese tray, homemade salsa and cucumber sandwiches. A mimosa bar and an array of fruit punches were also provided.
For dessert, a special bridal shower cake of chocolate confection was served with chocolate mousse filling. It was topped with chocolate ganache and was decorated with an ivory “J” and chocolate covered strawberries.
For the special occasion, Hannah wore a sleeveless, A-lined dress featuring a lace pattern in ivory and beige tones.
Approximately 40 guests were in attendance from Rayne, Lafayette, Morgan City and Cecilia.
Special guests in attendance were Matilda Johnson, paternal grandmother of the prospective groom, and Beverly O’Quinn, maternal grandmother of the bride-elect.
Hannah and Robert-Thomas will be married on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, during a 2 p.m. ceremony at First Baptist Church of Lafayette, followed by a reception at the Lafayette Event Center.
