Allen marks 99 years

Family and friends of Mable Allen traveled from far and wide to celebrate her 99th birthday with a party held on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 11, at her home in Crowley.

Allen’s actual birthday was Oct. 11.

A lifelong resident of the community, she was married to Blaze Allen, and their union was blessed with 10 children: Versey (now deceased), Glen, Leslie, Carol, Lucille, Deola, Blaze Jr., Alzena, Kermit and Nathan.

Guests at the party enjoyed a three-tiered golden vanilla cake. Covered with white fondant, the cake was embellished with rhinestone bands on alternating layers and a large bow with a rhinestone brooch. It was topped with a glittering “99.”

 Allen has faithfully dedicated her life to the service of God and her fellow man, and she has been a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for over 54 years.
