Attakapas Study Club holds May meeting in Lake Arthur

The Attakapas Study Club of Crowley met on May 11 at the Lake Arthur camp of Joanna Pruitt.
There were 11 members and one guest present. Members in attendance were JoAnne Arnaud, Erma Breaux, Jackie Buescher, Bettie Duhon, Shirley Griffin, Barbara Lengefeld, Bonnie Matirne, Gerry Meche, Pruitt, Jeri Stevenson and Ethel Thibodeaux.
President Lengefeld called the meeting to order and Duhon introduced her guest, Iva Weir. Pruitt led the Pledge of Allegiance and club collect.
The secretary, Meche, called the roll and read the minutes of the March meeting.
Lengefeld then called on Buescher, treasurer, to give the report of income and expenditures for the year.
Griffin gave an update on the two books that are being donated to the Crowley Public Library. Dot Simon ordered the book in memory of Jean Oubre, “The Complete Drawing Course: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Drawing and Sketching in Pencil and Ink.” The annual book donation will be “And Ladies of the Club” by Helen Hooven Santmyer. Buescher gave a report on the meeting of the American Legion Auxilliary that she attended with Liz Regan to present a monetary donation to help send a girl to Girls’ State.
At the close of the meeting, Lengefeld thanked everyone for cooperation in the planning and thanked Pruitt for providing her camp for the meeting. The meeting was adjourned and all attending went to lunch at the Regatta in Lake Arthur.
