Bertrand celebrates 90 years of life
On Monday, Jan. 5, Ella Bertrand of Crowley turned 90 years old, and her family and friends did not miss the call to celebrate.
Because out-of-state relatives were in town for the holidays, Bertrand’s birthday was celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 27.
Bertrand was fêted with a surprise party at Chili’s in Crowley. The restaurant was decorated with a “Happy 90th Birthday” banner, helium balloons, red decorations on each table and a floral centerpiece consisting of miniature red roses, lilies, carnations and small purple and white flowers interspersed with greenery. There was also a gift arrangement of red roses for Bertrand.
Thirty people were on hand to sing “Happy Birthday” to the guest of honor, who was shocked to nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends from Arkansas, Georgia and across the state of Louisiana.
After lunch, the guests traveled to Bertrand’s home, where the festivities were continued with cake and champagne.Guests had a choice of either chocolate buttercream or fresh strawberry ambrosia cake, along with an assortment of beverages.
The special occasion was planned by Bertrand’s three daughters, Linda Lambert, Darlene Veillon and Angie Coleman, along with her daughter-in-law, Sara Bertrand.
