Boullions celebrate 50 years of marriage

Approximately 45 people were on hand to share the joy of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sharon and Andrew “Manny” Bouillion on the afternoon of Saturday, July 18.
The Boullions were married at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau on July 17, 1965.
Mrs. Boullion is the former Sharon Woodward, and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Cormier of Mermentau and the late Marvin H. Woodward of Gouverneur, New York. She is a retired para-educator who worked for the Acadia Parish School Board.
Mr. Boullion is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Boullion of Crowley. He is a retired oilfield worker and truck driver.
The Boullions are the parents of Tobi Reed, who is married to Kenneth Reed, of Crowley; Kelli Smith, who is married to Kirk Smith, of Moss Bluff; and Brandi Broussard, who is married to Steven Broussard, of Rayne.
The couple’s 2 p.m. anniversary party was held at the Reeds’ Crowley residence and was co-hosted by the Smiths and Broussards.
For the special occasion, Mrs. Boullion wore a coral dress with a front keyhole opening paired with a battenberg lace shrug. She completed her outfit with a special pearl necklace that was given to her by her three daughters upon her graduation from Louisiana State University-Eunice.
Mr. Boullion selected black slacks and a light gray shirt with a coral and gray tie.
Mrs. Boullion wore a corsage of fresh white sweetheart roses with gold trim, while Mr. Boullion wore a matching boutonniere of double sweetheart roses with gold trim.
Photos of the couple on their wedding day, along with mementos from the past, were on display in the Reed home. A special slide show of the couple’s lives was also presented.
Guests at the event enjoyed a variety of finger foods, as well as a three-tiered cake that was a replica of the Boullions’ wedding cake. The cake was made by Germaine Duhon, Mr. Boullion’s sister and godchild. It was decorated with white icing and pink roses and adorned with a double heart cake topper.
Out-of-town guests traveled from Texas and various points throughout Louisiana for the party.
The Boullions are the proud grandparents of Lanie Reed Marceaux, who is married to Josh Marceaux, of Duson; Drew Smith of Moss Bluff; Lynsey Reed of Lafayette; and Hannah Smith of Moss Bluff.
