Crowley High School Class of 1958 holds reunion

Classmates of the Crowley High School Class of 1958 met at Fezzo’s Restaurant in Crowley on Saturday, April 11, for their annual reunion.

Betty Vallot Mitchell opened the event by welcoming everyone and recognizing those who traveled a long distance to be there.  Luby Guillot led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Ken Vigee introduced the guest speaker, Tom Davies, who is a member of the 1958 class and has worked at NASA Manned Spacecraft Center for many years. His engineering position allowed him to be in on the development of fuel cells, batteries and solar energy for spacecraft electrical power generation and energy storage systems. After obtaining his master’s degree in mechanical engineering, he contributed to the development of the fuel cell cryogenic reactant storage system for the space shuttle orbiter vehicle. Even after retirement, Tom still continued consulting on the space shuttle and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Davies and his wife, Betty Ann “Punkie” Davies, live in League City, Texas, and have three sons and five grandchildren.

Suzanne Firmin Edwards led a moment of silence for deceased classmates and those that are currently experiencing medical problems.

Following the moment of silence, Edwards led the group in the blessing of the meal. After the meal the group was given a special dessert of bread pudding donated by Loretta Jackson Youngblood.
