Hensgens attends National Association of Counties conference

Seventy-seventh International Rice Festival Queen Hailey Hensgens travelled to New Orleans last month at the invitation of the National Association of Counties 2014 Annual Conference and Exposition.

The event, hosted this year by the Police Jury Association of Louisiana, is held in the state every 12 years, and this year several of the state’s fair and festival queens were invited to attend.

This year’s theme was “Parade Across Louisiana.”

The queens were on hand on Monday, July 14, to greet guests as they entered on the “red carpet” and then “explored” the various parishes and regions throughout Louisiana as they were depicted in displays.

The event’s organizers threw a Mardi Gras parade in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and the visiting queens rode their own float and tossed beads and T-shirts to the crowd.

Many of the people in attendance had never been to Louisiana, so the efforts of Hensgens and her fellow queens helped to make their experiences memorable.
