Maria Teresa Hundley

Hundley presented at 56th DAR ball

 

Maria Teresa Hundley from Branch was presented in the 56th Annual George Washington Ball held Saturday, March 7, at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette.

A total of 11 debutantes and two young patriots were presented at the event, which was sponsored by the Galvez Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Attakapas Chapter Sons of the American Revolution.

Maria Teresa Hundley is the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas W. Hundley Sr. She attends Notre Dame High School in Crowley, where she is in the Beta Club, Campus Ministry and the Speech and Drama Club. Her Revolutionary Ancestor is Ensign Louis Coulon de Villiers of Louisiana.

Maria Teresa was sponsored by her mother, Clara Cobena Hundley of Acadia Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and her debut was held in memory of her grandmother, the late Eula Andrus Cobena. Her five siblings were presented at previous George Washington Balls. She was escorted by her brother, Nick Hundley Jr. 

Attending the ball from Crowley was Louisiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Honorary State Regent Barbara de la Houssaye  and her son, Marque de la Houssaye. Dr. Benton de la Houssaye of Crowley wrote an essay on the Star Spangled Banner which was handed out at the ball. Mrs. Sam Robertson formerly of Crowley, was also in attendance.
