Joanna Pruitt celebrates 90 years with family, friends

Joanna Leigh Pruitt of Crowley recently marked her 90th birthday, and family and friends joined her for a huge celebration held at the First Baptist Church in Crowley on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 25.

Pruitt, one of the most active citizens of Crowley, was born in Pineville on Oct. 28, 1924, to the late Florence and Francis Amy of Crowley.

Approximately 75 people were on hand for the event, with out-of-town guests traveling from various points throughout Louisiana, as well as Alabama and Texas.

The church hall was filled with fall decorations, and attendees enjoyed a variety of finger foods and punch. Pruitt’s birthday cake was a delicious three-layered butternut pecan confection.

Pruitt was married to the late H. Albert Pruitt Jr., and together the couple had three children: Paxton Pruitt, who lives in Thomasville, Alabama, with his wife Debbie; Banks Pruitt, who lives in Crowley with his wife Sandra; and the late Ginette Pruitt White.

Pruitt has been blessed with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Her grandchildren are Rebecca Pruitt Brown, John Pruitt, Alicia Pruitt, Anna Pruitt Wyatt, Charles White and Christopher White.

Her great-grandchildren are Sarah Frances Brown, Catherine Brown, Patrick Brown, Lillian Brown, Chloe Pruitt, Pierce Pruitt and Lillian Wyatt.
