Les Dames Acadienne plan trip to Lacassine

The members of Les Dames Acadienne held their first meeting of the new year on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Acadia Parish Public Library in Crowley.

After President Betty Miller called the meeting to order and Lois Richard offered a prayer, Janis Coignard presented a program on the country of France, including her own personal experiences during a three-week tour.

Following Coignard’s presentation, the group proceeded with the business portion of the meeting.

The ladies enjoyed reviewing Richard’s photographs of their Christmas party, which was held at Richard’s home.

Willie Mae Dailey reported to the group that the lap robes they made for Christmas were delivered to three local nursing homes on Dec. 17.

Cynthia Kratzer presented the group with information that she and Lucille Chisholm had collected regarding their annual April trip. The ladies plan to visit the Louisiana Spirits Rum factory in Lacassine. The factory offers tours that last approximately an hour, and there is a tasting room as well as a gift shop for visitors to enjoy. The group will tour the factory in the morning followed by a Dutch treat lunch.

After the meeting was adjourned, the 14 members present for the meeting enjoyed a luncheon prepared by hostesses Helen LeBlanc and Sis Ziegler.
