Local NAACP branch holds January meeting, still seeking members

 

Fresh on the heels of a successful mini health fair in December, which featured flu shots and blood pressure checks, the offi cers and members of the Crowley branch of NAACP held its January meeting.

Under the leadership of President Walter Andrus, the meeting was held at The Church of Christ, located at 1303 N. Eastern Ave. in Crowley, the church is under the ministry of Rev. Larry and Yolanda Guidry.

Members are still being accepted by the branch. To join, contact any current member.

The NAACP of Crowley meets each first Monday of the month at The Church of Christ unless notified by the president or a member to a change. Remaining dates for 2014 are March 3, April 7, May 9, June 2, July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 8, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
