Local NAUW holds 34th annual pageant
The National Association of University Women - Crowley Branch held its 34th Annual Royalty Pageant on Saturday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Greater Mt. Zion - Ambassador Ministries Fellowship Hall.
After an invocation by Evelyn Pleasure and greetings from Cynthia Winbush, president of the Crowley branch, the 2014 royalty was introduced by Cheryl S. Lewis. Myrtle R. Cain followed with the introduction of the 2015 royalty.
Whitney Robinson was presented with the Single Parent of the Year award.
The Grand Coronation was conducted by Betty Gums and Meridian Vallery.
Named as Miss Tiny Tot NAUW was Jada Ma’Rae Faith Young, who was sponsored by Cheryl S. Lewis; named as Little Master NAUW was Zalene Meche, who was sponsored by Myrtle Cain; and named as Little Miss NAUW was Khaelin Anae Sampson, who was sponsored by Martha Williams.
Shelda Kelso presented a tribute to the royal court, and Dr. Ezora Proctor offered closing reflections.
A “Green and White Reception” followed the event.
