Crowley’s Women of Wisdom and Men of Might ministries recently took a number of youths involved in their mentoring programs on an educational tour of Houston, Texas. In preparation for the June 26-29 trip, the youths were required to write research papers comparing and contrasting the Holocaust with the enslavement of Africans. Sites the group visited included the Holocaust Museum Houston, the John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science, the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, the Houston Museum of African American Culture, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Houston Zoo. In between learning about people, art and historical events, the youths were treated to a boat ride around the Port of Houston and enjoyed dining at area restaurants. On hand for the tour of the Holocaust Museum Houston were, front row from left, Victoria Tolbert, Jerry S. (museum docent); middle row, Minister Lucille Woodard, Shirley Hawkins, Zane Henry, Evan Byers, Jade Savoy, Taylor Perkins, Tatiana Lewis, Jessica Collins; back row, Christopher Lewis and Henry Bellard.
