Midland High School Class of ’64 celebrates 50 years

 

Members of the Midland High School Class of 1964 gathered for their 50-year reunion at the home of Dolores and Norris Matthews just south of Crowley on Saturday, April 26.

The event was well attended, with approximately 40 guests present, including some who had traveled from Texas.

Decorations included a blown-up class composite framed with red draperies, gold tassels and red wooden mortar boards, along with red wooden mortar boards and red carnations that served as table toppers.

There was no shortage of excellent food, as the group enjoyed steaks donated by Van Hoffpauir, along with covered dishes brought by the individual class members.

Awards were given out to several of the classmates, including Brenda Inman LeBlanc - longest married - 50 years; Susan Thibodeaux Gondron, most grandchildren; and Susan Thibodeaux Gondron and Lorraine Deshotel LeGros - most great-grandchildren.

The class also took time to honor its deceased members – Helen Blanchard, Laura Broussard, Keith Stephen Carlson, Andrew James LeBlanc, Gracie Russell, Rodney James Schexnyder, Charles Wilson Smith
