Pink Ladies hold spring general meeting, install new officers
On Wednesday, May 6, the Pink Ladies of Acadia General Hospital met at the Rice Palace restaurant in Crowley to hold their election and installation of officers to the board.
The ladies were greeted at the door, where they registered for door prizes, by Lorraine Mire and Leisa Thibodeaux.
President Gloria LeBlanc called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Evelyn Barousse, chaplain, led the volunteer pledge and prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Roberta Sonnier read the minutes for the 2014 fall meeting and Treasurer Nettie Romero gave the yearly financial report for April 2014 through April 2015. Donations to the hospital over $25,000 for the year.
Chairman Barbara Courville thanked the ladies who served on the nominating committee and Dean Gaspard then called for nominations from the floor. The following officers were elected by acclamation: president - Gloria LeBlanc; first vice president - Leisa Thibodeaux; second vice president - Barbara Courville; secretary - Bonnie McClain; Treasurer - Nettie Romero; parliamentarian - Mary Briley; and three-year board members - Babs Simon and Tedine Mayfield. The officers were then installed by Gaspard.
The group then presented a corsage to Frankie Johnson, who recently had her 90th birthday. Johnson has been a faithful Pink Lady for many years and has been traveling from Baton Rouge each week for the last two years to fulfill her duties.
After several announcements were made by Monica Guidry, volunteer manager, door prizes were awarded to Helen Zaunbrecher, Verna Simon and Roberta Sonnier. Sally Richard won the table centerpiece.
The 36 ladies in attendance then enjoyed a buffet meal.
