Pink Ladies recognized at luncheon

 

A large number of volunteers with the Pink Ladies of the Acadia General Hospital were on hand for the luncheon hosted by Lafayette General Health on Wednesday, April 15, at the Cajundome Convention center in Lafayette.

Monica Guidry, volunteer coordinator, welcomed the many volunteers who serve at  Lafayette General Health, Acadia General Hospital, University Hospital and Clinic and St. Martin Hospital.

A number of dignitaries were present for the event, including Zachary Landry, assistant administrator of Acadia General.  

According to Guidry, the combined total of volunteer hours was 26,500 hours for the year 2014.

The local Pink Ladies who were awarded medals were: 500 hours, Barbara Courville and Ella Harrington; 1,500 hours, Leora Amy, Thelma Istre and Babs Simon; 2,000 hours, Gloria LeBlanc; 2,500 hours, Yvonne Menard; 3,500 hours, Esther Henderson and Lu Matte; and 4,000 hours, Cephronia Prather.

Recognized for the most years served was Georgie Petitjean and for volunteering the most hours was Nettie Romero.

Ladies who attended the luncheon and enjoyed the delicious meal were Roberta Sonnier, Babs Simon, Gena Wagner, Verna Simon, Ella Harrington, Sylvia Dischler, Tedine Mayfield, Gloria LeBlanc, Patricia Beverly, Georgie Petitjean, Nettie Romero, Bonnie McClain, Sylvia Gaudet, Leora Amy, Cephronia Prather, Carol Martin, Pat Comeaux, Helen Zaunbrecher, Sis Ziegler, Rose Thibodeaux, Lu Matte, Evelyn Barousse, Lerdie Godeaux, Jeri Stevenson and Barbara Courville.
