Pink Lady board of directors hold January meeting

On Monday, Jan. 5, the Pink Lady board members met for their regular monthly meeting in the conference room of Acadia General Hospital.

President Gloria LeBlanc called the meeting to order, followed by Mary Briley’s leading the group in the auxiliary pledge and prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance in the absence of Chaplain Evelyn Barousse.

It was moved by Briley and seconded by Barbara Courville that the minutes be dispensed with due to the absence of Secretary Roberta Sonnier. Dean Gaspard, acting secretary, called the roll. Eight members were present including Monica Guidry, the hospital’s volunteer coordinator.

The treasurer’s report was given by Nettie Romero and it was approved, pending audit.

The second vice president, Thelma Istre, will be replaced by Courville until the next election is held in April.

Guidry led a discussion concerning the future Pink Lady meetings. On April 15 there will be a system-wide luncheon in Lafayette in the Convention Center; May 6 will be the election of Pink Lady officers and luncheon at the Rice Palace in Crowley at 10:30 a.m.; Oct. 7 is the Pink Lady Luncheon, Speaker, and Necrology Service at the Rice Palace at 10:30 a.m.; and Dec. 7 there will be a holiday party in Lafayette at the Convention Center.

A new and revised calling list has been printed.  Only names on this new list are to be called.

There were 22 doors in the hospital that were decorated with a Christmas theme. Pink Ladies who judged them in the contest were LeBlanc, Gaspard, Courville, Tedine Mayfield and Bonnie McClain.

Some of the Pink Ladies attended the wake of former Pink Lady Cecile Zaunbrecher and recited  a Rosary. A sympathy card was also sent to the family.

Guidry encouraged all volunteers to attend the forums being held, even though it isn’t compulsory that they attend.

The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 2 in the conference room of Acadia General Hospital.
