Silver Belles take gold

Under the direction of Crowley’s Brenda Core, Crowley native Margie Abshire, third from left, was one of six ladies to walk away Thursday morning with a gold medal from the Senior Olympics. Abshire and the rest of the Silver Belles, from left, Irene Satler, Faye Odom, Genny Dischler, Glenda Young and Claire Smith, competed for the medal and were chosen as the gold medal winners at the event held at the Robicheaux Recreation Center in Lafayette. The dance group showed off its moves to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “Ain’t Going Down (‘Til The Sun Goes Up).” Other events were held at the Senior Olympics as well.
