Sorority chapter plans trip to Vermilionville

Hostess Nancy Tislow presented a program she called “Did you Know?” at the meeting of Laureate Mu chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held at her home on April 5.
Among the many interesting and useful facts was that older adults with insomnia could increase their sleep time by drinking tart cherry juice twice a day. Coffee drinkers received good news that showed that the beverage could help keep one’s weight down. Tislow also described the benefits of using coconut oil in our diets. Oils found in the coconut have a positive antioxidant action in the body and can help reduce the effects of aging. Some facts were useless but interesting, such as that the three songs played the most in America are “Happy Birthday,” the national anthem and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
During the business portion of the meeting plans were made and assignments given for the annual Founder’s Day banquet, which will be held with Eta Kappa on April 27 at the Rice Palace.
Connie Jaubert reminded members of plans to travel to Lafayette to tour and have lunch at Vermilionville on April 15.
Members brought spray bleach cleaner for Miss Helen’s Soup Kitchen and are asked to bring toilet tissue to the May meeting.
The hostess served refreshments to members Shirley Griffin, Jaubert, Brenella Joubert, Elsie Rowell, Gloria Stutes and Phyllis Triggs.
