Rayne Garden Club marks Arbor Day with donation

Ladies of the Rayne Garden Club made their annual Arbor Day donation on Wednesday, Jan. 28, this year to enhance the Rayne Depot Square.
The 2015 donation included camellias for the Depot stage area revitalization program, which will also include shrubs, perrenials annuals, along with overall cleaning and painting.
Garden Club members in attendance were Chairperson Lisa Soileaux, Judy Guidry, Hazel Prevost and Julia Breaux.
Mayor Chuck Robichaux thanked the Garden Club for the donation, in addition for everyone in attendance, including Police Chief Carroll Stelly, and City Councilmen Mike Doucet, Jimmy Fontenot and Kenneth Guidry.
The annual donation was made in memory of deceased Rayne Garden Club members through the years, including Mrs. Robert Kiegly, Mrs. Laurence Breaux, Mrs. Martin Petitjean, Mrs. Lois Gossen, Mrs. Etta Constantine, Mrs. Genevieve Dischler, Miss Fleurette Foreman, Mrs. Kathleen LeLeux, Mrs. Jane Daboval, Mrs. Agnes Sonnier, Mrs. Gloria Perrodin, Mrs. Marie Privat, Miss Geraldine Raymond, Mrs. Bernice Barousse, Mrs. Hilda Petitjean, Mrs. Mary Etta Johnston, Mrs. Louisa Bihm Fremaux, Miss Irene Petitjean, Mrs. Estelle Fleming, Mrs. Edna Mae Zaunbrecher, Mrs. Betty Guidry, Mrs. Lodia LeBlanc, Mrs. Julie Ousse, Mrs. Nellie Petitjean, Mrs. Helen Blue Garrett and Mrs. Jane Sweeney.
