Martin Petitjean Elementary receives national award

HONORED DURING CEREMONY - Culminating a year-long process, Martin Petitjean Elementary was one of six Louisiana schools honored during an awards ceremony held Nov. 9-10, 2015, in Washington, D.C. where they received an engraved plaque and flag signifying its status as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School. The bottom photo includes MPE Principal Kim Cummins, left, and MPE Guidance Counselor Jane Leonards, right, receiving the school’s Blue Ribbon plaque. The top photo was taken at La. Senator Bill Cassidy’s office for a reception held in honor of the Acadia Parish honorees including, from left, Irma Trosclair and Lisa Anderson of South Crowley Elementary, Sen. Cassidy, and Cummins and Leonards of MPE. The Blue Ribbon Schools program honors schools that are either high-performing or have closed achievement gaps, especially among minority or disadvantaged students.
