NDHS homecoming set, court told

Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish will celebrate its 47th Homecoming the week of October 6-10 with a number of activities planned for students, faculty and returning alumni.

In addition to campus activities held throughout the week, community-wide festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, when the annual NDHS Homecoming Parade rolls north on Parkerson Ave. from the Crowley Court Circle to the Notre Dame campus where a pep rally will be held. 

Immediately following the pep rally at 6 p.m., the inaugural Notre Dame High School Gumbo Cookoff will be held on the ND track surrounding the practice field. Team entry forms are available by calling the Notre Dame Development Office at 783-7143 (there is no entry fee for teams). Individual tickets are $5 each and are available at Notre Dame High School. All funds raised will benefit the Notre Dame Teacher Benefit Fund. For information call the NDHS Development Office at 783-7143 or download entry forms at ndpios.com.

All Notre Dame, St. Joseph High School, St. Michael High School and St. Francis High School alumni are invited to celebrate Mass with ND students and faculty on Friday, Oct. 10, at noon in the A.B. Doré Memorial Gym. Alumni and friends are also invited to attend the 2 p.m. Homecoming Pep Rally in the gym later that afternoon.

The week’s festivities will conclude with the football game on Friday evening when the Pioneers take on the Wolf Pack of St. Mary High School. Prior to the game, a reception will be held beginning at 6:15 p.m. at Gardiner Memorial Stadium honoring the Notre Dame High School Classes of 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005, as well as the 1955 and 1965 classes of St. Joseph High School, St. Michael High School and St. Francis High School. Alumni are also reminded to visit the school’s website and update your information.

The 2014 Notre Dame Homecoming Court will be introduced during halftime activities of the football game and a new Homecoming Queen will be named. Members of the 2014 NDHS Homecoming Court are:

Hanna Nicole Esthay, daughter of Randall and Sadie Esthay of Jennings;

Aline Marie Gossen, daughter of Jason and Amy Gossen of Rayne;

Allie Cherie Gossen, daughter of Paul and Danielle Gossen of Rayne;

Mia Clare Grissom, daughter of John and Mandy Miller of Rayne and Stephen and Tricia Grissom of Youngsville;

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the annual Homecoming Dance will conclude Notre Dame Homecoming 2014.
