Rayne Catholic Elementary Promotion Mass, Students Honored

50-Year Graduates Recognized

Rayne Catholic Elementary 2014-2015 eighth grade students were promoted to high school during Thursday’s Promotional Mass held May 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The promotion Mass was celebrated by Fr. Kendall Faulk, school chancellor, joined by Associate Pastor Samuel Fontana.
Witnessed by parents and guests, 53 eighth graders were presented certificates of promotion to high school, in addition to a number of distinguished awards.
The Catholic Action Award is the highest award given to a student at Rayne Catholic Elementary. Students are nominated and voted on by their peers and teachers with a boy and girl selected who demonstrates Christian attitude, Christian behavoir, and participation and reverence in religious activities. The eighth grade honorees awarded for the 2014-2015 school year were Emma Smith, daughter of Julie and Roy Smith, and Chase Habetz, son of Giselle and Dwight Habetz..
Welcomed by RCE Principal Fred Menard, the golden anniversary class 1965 of the former St. Joseph High School were invited to participate in the evening’s program. Alumni in attendance were Sheryl Breaux Daniel, Barbara Champagne Shrader, Phyllis Fall Beisecker, Pamela Lagneaux Boullion, Linda Neu Cormier, Judie Richard Alleman, Ronald Sonnier, Steve Theuissen and Norris Thibodeaux.
Alumni in attendance were introduce by Principal Fred Menard and presented a special remembrance from the school.
Promotion certificates and a St. Joseph Bible engraved with their names were presented to the following eighth grade students: Makenzie Abshire, Matthew Abshire, Meaghan Austin, Wil Benoit, Kane Bergeron, Noah Bourgeois, Brandon Boykin, Katelynn Brown, Katelynn Champagne, Caroline Comeaux, Ethan Comeaux, Kaitlyn Cormier, Luke Cormier, Kayla Cramer, John Daigle, Holden David, Haleigh Domingue, Gabe Doucet, William Douget, Zachary Fontenot, Riley Gautreaux, Austin Gossen, Jeanne Claire Gossen, Steven Gossen, K.C. Granger, Bobbie Guidry, Chase Habetz, Elliot Hebert, Jake Hollier, Caden Hudson, Paul Hundley, Michael Johnson, Ethan Keller, Aidan LeBlanc, Jacob Lejeune, Mia Meche, Dylan Menard, Garret Miller, Maddie Miller, Julia Morrison, Emma Pastor, Alec Prevost, Mallorie Richard, Thomas Ronkartz, Alex Roy, Zachary Satchell, Mary-Kate Simon, Sydnei Simon, Emma Smith, Hunter Terro, Karlie Weber, Stanley Wu and Steven Wu.
