Break in burglaries case

Alert citizens along with a quick action of the responding officer have led to the break in a string of residential burglaries in east Crowley over the past weekend. 

Officers were notified by a citizen on Saturday of two suspicious male subjects around 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Avenue K and East Eighth Street. One subject was located, however the second subject was located exiting from the yard area of a residence in the area. 

“The officer attempted to stop the second subject and the subject fled on foot. The officer pursued the suspect as citizens maintained a visual observation and notified police dispatchers of the pursuit,” stated Chief KP Gibson. 

The second suspect was caught within several blocks of the pursuit. During the ensuing investigation, it was discovered that the second subject had committed another burglary as property was recovered from his person at the time of his arrest. 

Officers and detectives continued to investigate and were able to break the investigation to identify these and other suspects who were involved in the burglaries in east Crowley. 

Arrested was Jarius Watson, 22, of Lake Charles. He has been booked on seven counts of burglary. He has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail. 

A 16-year-old juvenile has been arrested on one count of burglary. He has been transported to a juvenile facility outside of Acadia Parish. 

Crowley Police are seeking two other suspects in connection with this investigation:

• Trevvor Lewis, 21, of Crowley. He is being sought for eight counts of burglary. 

• James Martin, 17, of Crowley. Martin is being sought for one count of burglary. 

“The difference in solving these cases is the direct involvement of the citizens as well as the hard work of our personnel. Our citizens have been vigilant in keeping a watch of the neighborhood and reporting. I also appreciate the hard work of our personnel. I ask all citizens of our community to get involved as we cannot do it without your help,” stated Gibson.
