A burglary in Crowley Saturday near noon was foiled due to the quick action of a nearby neighbor and the Crowley Police Department.

According to reports, two males were observed standing around on Eighth Street by a neighbor. Suddenly, one of the suspects disappeared and the neighbor quickly called police. Upon arrival a short foot chase took place and one of the suspects was taken into custody. Charges of felony burglary have been filed and police are actively seeking the second suspect.

“It is too early to determine if today’s events are related to our other burglaries,” Chief K.P. Gibson said referring to a string of burglaries in the Historic District over the past several weeks.

“Officers are in the process of tracking down additional leads, questioning suspects and putting all of the pieces together.”

More on Saturday’s events will be in Tuesday’s edition.
