Crowley Police Department focusing on street crimes in areas of recent violence

During the last week, Crowley police officers have made multiple arrests involving narcotics, open containers and street-level crimes.
“We have shifted man power around within in the department to put more officers on the streets, seven days a week,” said Chief K.P. Gibson. “Our officers have been addressing loitering issues, narcotics and other street crimes in the same area of recent violence.”
During the past week, 65 stops of people or vehicles have led to 12 open container citations being issues, seven arrests for narcotics violations, the arrest of an armed robbery suspect through a warrant issued by the Rayne Police Department, and several firearms which were illegally carried being taken off the streets, according to Gibson.
“We are still working to solve the recent homicide case as detectives are working every lead and all tips to bring the suspect to justice,” the chief added. “We still need the public’s help with information.”
Gibson added that his department continues to also work with Louisiana State Police, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office and other agencies to resolve the rash of violence.
“I thank these agencies for their support and efforts,” Gibson said.
