Interstate reopens after crash
Officers remain on the scene following an afternoon crash that involved a truck and 18-wheeler and sent one to the hospital.
According to a news release from the Rayne Police Department, on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 1:32 p.m., the department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10, eastbound, near the Rayne exit.
Investigating officers determined that the westbound 2006 Chevrolet truck crossed the median and struck the eastbound 2014 Peterbuilt truck. Both vehicles were overturned and the driver of the Chevrolet truck was trapped in the vehicle. The Rayne Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated the driver, who was transported by Acadian Ambulance Air Med from the scene.
At 5:47 p.m., both lanes of travel were opened on the eastbound side of I-10.
The Rayne Police Department, Rayne Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit, Acadian Ambulance and Air-Med services were dispatched to the accident.
