Rayne Police seeking public assistance in locating wanted persons

Charges include attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery with a firearm

The Rayne Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating two local men, Bryan “B.J.” Bellard and Lamar Malbrough, who are both wanted for two counts attempted armed robbery with a firearm and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

On June 24, at 11:22 p.m., the Rayne Police Department responded to an armed robbery in progress in the 300 block of North McGown Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that two black males, armed with a firearm, approached the victims and demanded money. During the robbery, one of the suspects discharged a small caliber pistol into the victim’s vehicle. Both suspects fled the area in a compact gray car. Neither victim was struck by the discharged rounds and did not require medical attention.

The investigation to-date, has identified Bryan “B.J.” Bellard, 21, and Lamar Malbrough, 23, as the suspects. An arrest warrant was issued by Commissioner Thomas Frederick of the 15th Judicial District Court on the two felony charges of attempted armed robbery with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder. Both suspects have a bond of $250,000.00.

Any information received that leads to the arrest of either suspect will receive a reward from the Acadia Parish Crime Stoppers.
