Ebonites host ‘A Spring Bouquet of Debs’
RAYNE - La’shonda Nicolette Delco was named the 2015 Debutante Queen on Saturday, May 2, during the annual Debutante Introductions and Ball hosted by the Ebonite Civic and Social Club of Rayne, Inc. at the Rayne Civic Center.
La’shonda is the 16-year-old daughter of Chandra Delco and Leonce Duhon Jr. and the late Cleveland Hollie Sr. She is a junior at Crowley High School where she involved in a numbe rof extracurricular activities. Her escort for the evening was Dondré Wheeler.
La’shonda was crowned by last year’s honoree, Chantel D’Nay Delco, her older sister, an highlight of the evening.
Guests were welcomed with greetings from club president Roxyanne Guillory, with Jacqueline Wiltz serving as mistress of ceremonies.
Named First Maid was Jacquanna Michelle Marie Steiner, 17-year-old daughter of Jacqueline Steiner and Mitchell Steiner. She is a junior at Rayne High School and was escorted for the event by Zyon Mouton.
Cierra Monique Harmon, 18-year-old daughter of Annie Harmon and Anthony Laudin, was named Second Maid. She is a senior at Rayne High School and was escorted by Drakkar Broussard.
Cierra Harmon was also named Miss Congeniality by the young ladies included in this year’s selections.
Completing this year’s debutantes were: DaKea J’nae Cole, 18-year-old daughter of Raven LeBlanc and Dan Cole Jr.; KyWanni Renee’ Cormier, 17-year-old daughter of Liz Cormier; Charlesha Jenee Dugas, 17-year-old daughter of Alisha Washington, Kelton Washington and Charles Dugas; Bailey Kristian Thomas, 16-year-old daughter of Marland Wilridge, Rosemary and Gerald Credeur.
Named “Ebonite of the Year” was Roxyanne Guillory for her dedicated service to the organization and community.
The 2014 honoree, Queen Chantel Delco, delivered her outgoing message and was honored during her last promenade prior to the announcement of the new 2015 court. Souvenirs were also given.
Once the court was named, a toast to the new royalty was given by Coach Louis Handy, followed by a waltz for the debutantes, escorts, and their parents.
