Junior, senior courts honored at Rayne Sweetheart Ball

The 2015 Beta Sigma Phi Annual Sweetheart Ball was held Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Rayne Civic Center by the local Beta Sigma Phi chapters.
Each year, Beta Sigma Phi honors young ladies and gentlemen who are high school seniors and have achieved community, academic and athletic excellence. These outstanding young people comprise the junior court, while the senior court consists of two members of each BSP chapter (Sweetheart and Girl of the Year) as they are voted upon by their peers.
Since the founding in 1931, Beta Sigma Phi has grown to be the largest social, service and cultural organization in the world. In Rayne, there are four active chapters, Laureate Lambda, Preceptor Alpha Iota, Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Gamma Kappa.
Young ladies honored on the junior court were Caroline Bergeron, daughter of Frank and Dawn Bergeron; Jillian Faye Boone, daughter of Kyle and Jody Boone; Kate Elizabeth Broussard, daughter of Brian and Marian Broussard; Whitney Marie Fontenot, daughter of Scott and Mona Fontenot; Mayci Gonzales, daughter of Brandi Meche and Neil Gonzales; Aline Marie Gossen, daughter of Jason and Amy Gossen; Allie Cherie Gossen, daughter of Paul and Danielle Gossen; Sydni Claire Guidry, daughter of Randy and Rachel Guidry; Claire Elizabeth Hebert, daughter of Phil and Kim Hebert; Elizabeth Renee Ledet, daughter of Timothy and Christy Ledet; Kristen Meche, daughter of Bryan and Debbie Meche; McKenzie Meche, daughter of Craig and Jamie Meche; Cecily Claire Schexnyder, daughter of Raluis and JoAnn Dupuis and Flo Schexnyder; Alyssa Simoneaux, daughter of Mae and Damian Simoneaux; and Madison Vidal, daughter of Lance and Grady Arceneaux.
The slate of young gentlemen included Grant Alex Abshire, son of Chad and Leslie Abshire; John Michael Besse, son of Dev and Micki Besse; Troy Michael Breaux, son of Kathryn Breaux and Michael Breaux; Damon Comeaux, son of Joel and Monica Comeaux; Jordan Daigle, son of Wynette and Taite Daigle; Nicholas Paul Doré, son of Greg and Tammi Doré; Michael Gossen, son of Robert and Tiffany Gossen and Jake and Katie Hollier; Cameron John Guidry, son of David and Tessa Guidry; Nicholas Guidry, son of Mark and Colleen Guidry; Hunter Boyd Keely, son of Rachelle Keely and Stan Keely; Brice Anthony Meche, son of Carl and Angie Meche; Dylan Meche, son of Randy Meche Sr. and Sara Doga; Ivy Joseph Thibodeaux, son of Stacey and Annette Perrodin Thibodeaux; Matthew John Touchette, son of Murray “Tippy” Touchette Jr. and Bridget LeJeune Touchette; and Ben Zaunbrecher, son of Dennis and Angie Zaunbrecher.
Ladies selected as Sweethearts from their respective BSP chapter were Sara Meche of Gamma Kappa, Ianeta Guidry of Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Jimette Guidry of Preceptor Alpha Iota.
Girls of the Year included the following BSP members: Sarah Bergeron of Gamma Kappa, Danette Arabie of Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Chris Simpson of Preceptor Alpha Iota.
Introductions of the honorees began at 7 p.m. Emcee for the evening was Paige Dupont.
