Junior, senior courts honored at Sweetheart Ball

The 2016 Beta Sigma Phi Annual Sweetheart Ball was held Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Rayne Civic Center by the local Beta Sigma Phi chapters.
Each year, Beta Sigma Phi honors young ladies and gentlemen who are high school seniors and have achieved community, academic and athletic excellence. These outstanding young people comprise the junior court, while the senior court consists of two members of each BSP chapter (Sweetheart and Girl of the Year) as they are voted upon by their peers.
Since the founding in 1931, Beta Sigma Phi has grown to be the largest social, service and cultural organization in the world. In Rayne, there are four active chapters, Laureate Lambda, Preceptor Alpha Iota, Preceptor Alpha Chi, and Gamma Kappa.
Young ladies honored on the junior court were Morgan Avry Babineaux, daughter of Sam and Vanessa Babineaux; Blair Bergeron, daughter of Eddie and Sarah Bergeron; Catherine Elise Castille, daughter of Kendall and Annette Castille; Katherine Constantin, daughter of Cathy Chatelain and Mike Constantin; Emily Dupont, daughter of Steve and Jeanne Dupont; Brianne Margaret Gary, daughter of Bryan and Trudy Gary; Madison Gray, daughter of Todd and Allison Gray; Claire Elizabeth Lalande, daughter of David and Susan Lalande; Natalie Marie Leger, daughter of Connie and Shane Leger; Samantha Daryn Leger, daughter of Tony and Laney Leger; Makenzie Miller, daughter of Jodi Webb and Shane Miller; Cailey Ann Morgan, daughter of Julie and Brad Lopez and Cy and Carey Morgan; Morgan Kathryn Oliver, daughter of Chet and Cynthia Oliver; Victoria Blaise Richard, daughter of Sean and Holly Richard; Kirklyn Paige Zaunbrecher, daughter of Drew and Ginger B. Zaunbrecher.
The slate of young gentlemen included Ty Adkins, son of Tim and Carolyn Adkins; Evan Alleman, son of Jason and Leslie Alleman; Andrew Scott Chiasson, son of Todd and Melissa Chiasson; Harley Duane Doucet, son of Mark and Stacey Doucet; Connor Louis Fay, son of Cody and Chasity Guidry and Kip and Michon Fay; Blade Leger, son of David and Rhonda Comeaux and Brian Leger; Ian Meche, son of Glen and Inger Meche; Austin Melancon, son of Kurt and Carleen Melancon; Matthew John Molbert, son of Paul and Michelle Molbert; Nicholas Moore, son of Wendy Moore and the late David Moore; Remi André Richard, son of Mark and Nicole Richard; Cort Reid Roberts, son of Terry and Tiffany Roberts; Lucas John Simon, son of Bert and Sonya Simon; Jack Anthony Veillon, son of Mark and Michele Veillon.
Ladies selected as Sweethearts from their respective BSP chapter are Vanessa Babineaux (Gamma Kappa), Amy Bergeron (Preceptor Alpha Chi) and JoAnn Meche (Preceptor Alpha Iota).
Girls of the Year include the following BSP members: Crystal Hebert (Gamma Kappa), Theresa Prather (Preceptor Alpha Chi) and Dolores Benoit (Preceptor Alpha Iota).
