Still time to see the Acadia Players’ ‘Salem’s Daughter’

The Acadia Players took the stage this weekend with their autumn production of “Salem’s Daughter,” a chilling tale of suspense that looks at social behavior and consequences throughout the ages.
Those who missed it, however, still have a chance to catch one of two performances this Sunday - 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. - for a perfectly spooky end to a Halloween weekend.
The gripping drama opens in 1691, when Sarah Brooks has been tried as a witch and sentenced to hang. In response she curses those who would disturb her rest.
The story moves to the present day, when six high school seniors are having a party at a house on the hill where condemned witches were buried. When one of the guests dies, the others set a plan to protect their post-graduation dreams.
The story advances to eight years in the future, with construction having begun where the body of the dead party guest was hidden. The group must once again come together to save their futures and their sanity.
The cast of “Salem’s Daughter,” which is directed by P. E. Ronkartz and Jennifer Mire, comes from throughout the Acadiana area and promises to give a spine-chilling, goosebump-raising performance.
There are two performances of the show remaining, and they are set for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Acadia Parish Center for the Arts and Culture, 530 W. Mill St. in Crowley.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students with ID’s, and they will be available at the door one hour prior to each performance. They are also available online at http://www.theacadiaplayers.
