Weekend pageants name new Frog Festival queens

Not one, but four beauties were named the new 2016-2017 Rayne Frog Festival royalty on Saturday, March 19, during the 2016 Frog Festival Queen’s Pageant and Ball. The annual events were again held at the Rayne Civic Center.
Frog Festival
Queen
Crowned the 2016 Miss Frog Festival Queen was Drew Ann Racca, 19-year-old daughter of Shawn and Mia Racca of Lacassine. She is a sophomore at Louisiana Tech University with studies in pre-veterinary medicine. She represented the City of Ruston for the pageant.
Drew was crowned by the outgoing queen, Carly Chaumont, and presented her awards by Rayne Frog Festival Pageant Committee members Angie Broussard and Suzette Leonards.
Named 1st Maid was Brooklyn Rena Mire, 17-year-old daughter of Jackie and Becky Prejean and Jody Mire and a junior at Rayne High School.
Second Maid was Chelsea Marie Fontenot, 19-year-old daughter of Manuel Fontenot and the late Wanda Fontenot of Lake Charles and a sophomore at McNeese State University.

Teen Queen
Fallyn Olivia Gonsoulin, 16-year-old daughter of Chris and Jeanette Gonsoulin of New Iberia, was named the new Frog Festival Teen Queen during the weekend pageant. She is a junior at New Iberia High School and was crowned by last year’s honoree, Gabrielle Guilbeau. Making her presentations were Rayne Frog Festival Pageant Committee members Nikki Link and Jeremy Lavergne.
Teen 1st Maid was Corinne Juliet Doucet, 16-year-old daughter of Patrick and Desiree Doucet of Rayne.

Ms. Queen
Rachel Guidry of Rayne was crowned the 2016-2017 Frog Festival Ms. Queen to complete the evening of pagentry. She was sponsored for the event by Gautreaux’s Donut Kitchen and Rosa Lee Boutique. She was crowned by the outgoing royalty, Dana Dupree Fontenot, and was awarded by Rayne Frog Association Pageant Chairman Angie Broussard and Frog Festival Chairman Roy Credeur.
The 43-year-old beauty is the daughter of Wallace Guidry and the late Viola Guidry, and is the mother to Ryker, Alyssa and Phillip. She is employed as a manager at Cajun Fitness in Rayne.
Named Ms. 1st Maid was Chantell Leger of Welsh. She is married to Homer Leger Jr. and is a devoted wife, mother and friend to many.

Junior Queen
During a morning pageant held at the Rayne Civic Center, Janci Michelle Aubé was crowned the 2016-2017 Jr. Frog Festival Queen.
Janci is the 11-year-old daughter of Ricky and Bunnie Aubé of Duson and is a sixth grade student at Lafayette Christian Academy. She was crowned by last year’s honoree, Kailey Hollier.
Named 1st Maid was Alexis Thibodeaux, 12-year-old daughter of Robert and Tiffany Gossen and Tyler Thibodeaux of Rayne.
Second Maid was Carmon Elizabeth Beal, 11-year-old daughter of Chris and Joanie Beal of Carencro.
Mary-Kathryn Dischler was named 3rd Maid, the daughter of Billy and Tessa Dischler of Rayne.
The pageant was again sponsored by ladies of the Preceptor Alpha Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for young ladies 10, 11 and 12 years old.

The reigning 2015-16 Miss Rayne, Victoria Richard, welcomed everyone to the City of Rayne and extended a special invitation to attend the 2016 Frog Festival this May.
Also in attendance were approximately 100 visiting queens from throughout the state, each representing her fair and festival.
