‘Coffee with a Cop’ program slated

The Crowley Police Department is inviting the public to a new event which will kick off Saturday, May 17.
The event will last from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. and with the inaugural session to be held at the Rice Palace.
Additional events will be held a different local businesses who wish to participate. The event is being called “Coffee with a Cop.”
“Our goal is to host this event on a quarterly basis,” said Police Chief K.P. Gibson. “If the response is good, we may schedule them more often.
“‘Coffee with a Cop’ provides an opportunity for the community to meet with law enforcement representatives over a cup of coffee — on us,” explained Gibson.
A member of each division within the police department will be present to speak with citizens. Concerns, topics or questions can be asked in a question-and-answer session or, if an attendee would like to speak privately, that is fine as well, according to Gibson.
The program is geared for all residents to meet and discuss matters with their local law enforcement officers.
“We will provide those in attendance with information regarding current trends and crime problems as well as updated information on issues most likely to affect our citizens,” said Gibson. “We will also open the floor for discussion.
“We would really like the community to come out to discuss any matters or concerns they have with us. We look forward to visiting with our fellow citizens Saturday morning.”
