APSO investigating child’s death

Investigators with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 3-year-old that was reported on Monday afternoon.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon at approximately 4:37 p.m., his office received a 911 call from a resident living in the 2500 block of Riverside Road near Jennings. The caller reported that a 3-year-old at the residence that was not breathing. 

Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that the child had been transported to Jennings American Legion Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Sheriff Melancon stated that no other details are available at this time as investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy. The investigation continues.
