APSO still investigating Sunday shooting

No new update Monday

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is presently investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. at an apartment complex near Crowley.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon, his office received a call that a shooting had occurred in the Kathy & Meadows Apartment Complex with possibly two gunshot victims.

Upon arrival deputies located one victim, identified as a bystander, who received two gunshot wounds to his left leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The shooting suspect and second victim left the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival. It is believed that there was a second victim receiving a gunshot wound. His whereabouts are unknown at this time.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the shooting was possibly the result of an argument.

As of Monday afternoon, no further details were available.
