Chamber announces Legislative Luncheon

Acadia, Jeff Davis legislators invited to speak

The Crowley and Rayne Chambers of Commerce are inviting the public to attend the Acadia Parish Legislative Luncheon. The event is free to the public and will be held at The Ballroom of Crowley, 123 E. Third St., on Monday, Feb. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served to those in attendance.

All legislators representing Acadia and Jeff Davis Parishes have been invited to join the open forum to discuss the issues they will be facing in the upcoming 2014 legislative session.

When the Post-Signal spoke with Crowley Chamber CEO Amy Thibodeaux this earlier this week she sounded hopeful that all the legislators that are invited will be able to attend. Among those who may be in attendance are Sen. Dan “Blade” Morrish, Sen. Jonathan Perry, Rep. Jack Montoucet and Rep. Mickey Guillory.

As it has been in recent years, the upcoming legislative session could be very contentious. One of the hot topics that will be discussed will be the Common Core program in the state’s education system.
