Chamber names new leadership

The Crowley Chamber of Commerce has announced the new leadership of the board of directors.

Elected to serve as officers during the 2014-15 Chamber year are Kerry Gibson, chairman; Jennifer T. Mixon, vice-chairwoman; and Robert Trahan, secretary/treasurer. 

Gibson is the chief administrative officer at Gibson PC. During his term as a director, he has been involved in planning successful Chamber events like the Gumbo Cook-Off and annual Banquet and has been a leader on the chamber’s membership committee. He is currently the vice-chair of the economic development committee. 

Gibson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL). He is also the partner and chief operating officer of Five Rivers Management, a long-term care facility based in Georgia.

Outside of his work at Gibson PC, he is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He has also volunteered his time coaching basketball, baseball, and softball at St. Michael’s School and has also coached baseball at the Crowley Recreation Department. 

Mixon is an agent at Acadia Parish Farm Bureau. She is a 2003 graduate of Louisiana State University. As a Chamber board member, Mixon has worked to co-chair the Farmers’ Appreciation Dinner and has been instrumental in recruiting new chamber members. She currently chairs the membership committee.

Mixon is also a member of the Crowley Professional Woman’s Club, a United Way volunteer, Jingle Bell Noel fundraiser, as well as contributing to several local charities. She is the advertising executive for the Crowley Professional Woman’s Club, the secretary for the SOLITIC Woman’s Club, a member of Delta Zeta Sorority Alumni Association and a board member for NAIFA of Louisiana where she received New Agent of the Year in 2012.  

Trahan is a certified public accountant and co-owner of Falcon Rice Mill.

As a Chamber board member, Trahan has co-chaired the Farmers’ Appreciation Dinner and the Golf Classic and been involved in working closely with the finance committee to maintain the Chamber’s financial records.

Currently the vice-chair of the legislative committee, Trahan is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in accounting. He is also a Leadership Excel graduate and former board member. Trahan volunteers his time at Miss Helen’s Soup Kitchen.

He is also a board member of the USA Rice Federation and currently serves as the vice chairman-elect of the USA Rice Millers Association, where he will serve as chairman beginning July 2015.

“As we have begun to plan our 2014-15 calendar, we expect a very busy year with plans to expand the marketing of our business members to consumers of Crowley and Acadia Parish through various local and Acadiana media; bring educational and informative meeting sessions for our members more often; work with, and support, true economic development to Crowley and Acadia Parish; reach out to other Acadia Parish chambers and business alliances to pool resources in an effort to better all of the parish; and, include more member involvement in our educational, networking and fundraising events,” said Gibson. “We look forward to working with all of our members to continue to grow and improve the Crowley Chamber and thank so many of our members who are the reason for our success.”
