Chief: Arrests, calls up in 2013
According to the year-end statistics for 2013, the Crowley Police Department had a very busy year. The report showed an increase in arrests and responses for nearly every category that the department tracks throughout the year.
Some of the categories showed drastic increases. For example, the total number of arrests rose by nearly one-half from 1,027 in 2012 to 1,515 in 2013.
Chief K.P. Gibson praised the work of his officers for the increased numbers.
“During the year of 2013 we had a big increase in the number of arrests made compared to 2012,” he said. “We also had a spike in the number of accidents investigated. Our calls for service increased by nearly 1,000 from the previous year.
“As you can see, the numbers over all have increased by dramatically during 2013 compared to 2012,” said Gibson. “This is a result of hard work by our officers and I want to thank our officers for the work they do. I can’t praise them enough for their dedication and hard work for our city.”
