Christmas Morning Fire In Rayne

EARLY CHRISTMAS MORNING fire destroyed a family’s home at 409 7th Street. Nineteen Rayne volunteer firefighters answered the alarm at 12:07 a.m. Five people were in the home asleep at the time of the fire. One of the occupants, Bridgette Dugas, suffered a burn on her leg and a five-year-old suffered minor burns in the escape. Fire Chief Allen “Noochie” Credeur reports firemen remained on the scene for approximately five and a half hours. A state fire marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Chief Credeur reported the renter was identified as Paul Wheeler,, but the owner’s name had not yet been confirmed.  (Acadian-Tribune Photo by Lisa Soileaux)
