Crowley High homecoming activities, court announced

Crowley High School will celebrate Homecoming 2014 with the theme “Ladies and Gents: Greater Than Gatsby.”

CHS students will celebrate the week with class spirit competitions and dress-up days. 

The homecoming parade will be held in downtown Crowley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2. The parade will feature members of the homecoming court, football sweetheart, football team, a variety of club and class parade entries and the CHS marching band.

The homecoming pep rally will be held the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 3, in the boys’ gym. 

The football game will also be held Friday as the Crowley High Gents take on Opelousas High School, beginning at 7 p.m. at Gardiner Memorial Stadium. 

During halftime, the football sweetheart and homecoming court will be presented and the newly selected 2014 Homecoming Queen will be announced.

The members of this year’s Crowley High School homecoming court are as follows:

Teara Shante’ Breaux is the daughter of Sheila Augustus and Tim Breaux. 

She has been on the volleyball, basketball and track teams for four years and the dance line for two years. Breaux was also a member of the Key Club for one year.

She has a 3.5 grade point average and plans to attend Grambling State University where she will major in athletic training.

Melaina Beth Doughty is the daughter of Tammy and Griff Doughty and Raschelle and Derrick Elkins.

She has been on the softball team for four years. Doughty was also on the volleyball team for four years and was named “Hardest Worker” last year. She was a member of the cheer squad for one year and was a Peer Tutor for two years. She has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years and is now a leader.

She has a 3.8 grade point average and plans to attend college where she will major in nursing.

Madelynn Claire LeBouef is the daughter of Kelly LeBouef and Ali Leleux.

She has been a member of Student Council for four years and represented Crowley High at the Louisiana Youth Seminar at LSU this past summer. 

LeBouef has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years and is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is currently on the volleyball team and has played softball for four years.

During her sophomore year, she was a second team All-District selection; then a first team All-District and All-Parish in her junior year.

LeBouef has a 3.6 grade point average and plans to attend college where she will major in business.

Madison Elizabeth LeJeune is the daughter of Marcus and Natalie LeJeune and Debbie Stelly. 

She has been a member of the color guard for four years and served as captain during her junior and senior years. LeJeune has been a member of Student Council and FFA for three years. She has received the “Hardest Working Student” and “Student of the Month” awards. Madison LeJeune also participated in the Acadia Parish CHOICES program.

She has a 3.1 grade point average and plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will major in business, then Nicholls State University where she will pursue a culinary arts degree.

Kelsey Simone Milson is the daughter of Jessica Arvie. 

She has been a member of the basketball and volleyball teams for four years. Milson has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for two years.

She has a 3.8 grade point average and plans to attend Grambling State Univeristy to major in education.

Dana’ Danasha’ Plummer is the daughter of Dana and Shadonda Plummer.

She was a member of the band for three years. Plummer has been a member of the Key Club for three years and is currently serving as president. She has served as a manger of the volleyball and basketball teams for two years. She also has received the “Hardest Working Student” award numerous times.

She has a 3.7 grade point average and plans to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge and major in criminal justice.

Katelyn Michelle Richard is the daughter of Dena and Patrick Richard.

She has been a ember of the Drama Club for three years. Richard was also a member of the track team for two years and was a cheerleader for one year. She is also a member of Student Council and is currently on its leadership team.

She is a member of the National Honor Society and has received numerous academic awards, including the “Hardest Working Student” award several times. She also served on the Prom Committee and was on the yearbook staff.

She has a 4.0 grade point average. She plans on attending Louisiana State University where she will major in education.

Nicole Claire Taylor is the daughter of Missy and Chris Taylor.

She has been a football trainer for three years, Student Council for one year, newspaper staff for two years, cross country team for one year and a track team manager for two years. Taylor was also on the Prom Committee.

She has a 3.6 grade point average and has received numerous academic awards, including Honor Roll and Literary Rally achievements. She plans to attend LSU Eunice for two years then transfer to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will major in kinesiology and history.

Bailee Rae Villejoin is the daughter of Shawn and Kim Villejoin. 

She was on the cheerleading squad for four years, the track team for four years and the volleyball team for two years. She has been a member of the softball team for four years and was chosen the offensive captain and was a second team All-District selection for two years. Villejoin has been in Student Council for four years and is currently a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

She has a 3.5 grade point average and plans to attend LSU Eunice to major in education.

The Crowley High School football team has chosen Hannah Rene’ Abshire as the 2014 Football Sweetheart.

She is the daughter of Quinton and Wanda Abshire.

Abshire has been a football manager for four years, a member of Student Council for two years, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for one year and the journalism staff for one year. 

She has a 3.2 grade point average and plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she will major in education.

The week will conclude with the homecoming dance, sponsored by the Crowley High School Student Council.

The dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Crowley High School Commons Area.
