Fontenot, Pete announced as third 'Dancing With the Stars' couple

Sponsorship levels announced

Dancing with the Stars is announcing its third couple.

The Rotary Club of Crowley is once again proud to join together with the Community Outreach Corporation and the Crowley Christian Care Center to present “Dancing with the Stars in a Caring Way.” This charity fundraising event will take place both Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, at 7:30 p. m. at the Grand Opera House of the South.

After a highly successful inaugural year, these groups hope to repeat and even improve upon their efforts to provide people in this area with funding for much-needed food, clothing and shelter. Emily Stoma and Mary Zaunbrecher, who are co-chairs of the event, agreed that this event brought the entire community together last year; they are eager to do their part to support these three great charitable organizations again.

“Dancing with the Stars” is pleased to announce the third couple selected to participate in this year’s gala, Josh Fontenot and Bethani Pete.

Josh Fontenot: Fontenot is employed at Crowley High School as its athletic director and head football coach. He and his wife, Laurie, are the parents of two children, a daughter, Josie, and a son, Charlie.

Fontenot is a graduate of Sacred Heart of Ville Platte and he received both his bachelor’s degree in secondary education and his M.Ed. in education administration and supervision from Nicholls State University.

He lists hunting, fishing and being a dad among his favorite things.

Fontenot said he’s dancing for a good cause and that he’d like to give back to the community, lending a hand to support these efforts the way others have supported him and his athletic programs. Soon, he’ll put his footwork to good use on the stage instead of the football field.

Bethani Pete: Pete has not only agreed to perform as a dancer, but she will also serve as the couple’s choreographer.

A member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, she is a Crowley High School alumna and recent performing arts graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a concentration in dance. She has trained with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City and served as a Chi Tau Epsilon Dance Honor Society member and officer throughout her undergraduate education.

Pete is currently on staff at Core Dance Center. She is experienced in a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, liturgical, Horton technique, Graham-based modern, tap, hip hop and West African. Her extensive experience in dance performance is sure to serve her well as she plays a dual role in this year’s competition.

The success of this worthwhile event is based on raising money through sponsorship, ticket sales and voting for the couple of your choice to win the highly sought-after mirror ball and the title of “Dancing with the Stars” winner.

Sponsorships are currently available at three levels: Platinum Caring Heart, Gold Caring Heart and Silver Caring Heart.
