The Budget/Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish School Board learned Wednesday night that Johnson Controls’ energy efficiency project work at various schools in the parish continues to progress.
The February report shows that lighting and controls at Central Rayne Kindergarten are both at 99 percent. The project should be completed in the next 30 days.
That work is because the installation of the Metasys ADX server at the Acadia Parish School Board is already 15 percent done and is projected to be wrapped up in 30 days.
“Lighting [at Central Rayne], we’re just waiting on a couple of punch list items, and our controls, we’re just waiting on our server to be installed, which is going to be installed this month,” said Derland “Chip” Moore II, project manager.
“The server that is being installed will allow us to bring all our controls online. We can start the training of Mr. Steve’s (Steve Jones, Acadia Parish supervisor of maintenance and warehouse) personnel and be able to do remote adjustments of the different set points. It’s a really big milestone for us in terms of closing out these schools and turning them over.”
The project has also moved onto the Church Point area, with work at Church Point High (minus the gym) 70 percent complete in the lighting and 60 percent complete in the controls. Lighting at Church Point Elementary is 70 percent complete with controls at 80 percent completion.
Moore says he estimates that all work at both schools will be 100 percent complete within the next 30-days.
Church Point Middle is the next school on the docket, and Moore estimated it at 70 percent done with lighting and 85 percent complete with controls.
The next phase of schools, which Moore believes could begin in the next month and a half, will include controls work at Iota High before moving onto Iota Middle and Iota Elementary.
He explained that Johnson Controls could be at Iota High by the end of March or beginning of April.
Moore also explained that Johnson Controls is training the teachers at each school to prepare them for the changes that are coming to the school through the project.
