A picture of Crowley Police Officer David Taylor carrying a lost child from the festival grounds back to the Crowley Police Department is beginning to pick up steam on social media.
Taylor, who was carrying the lost child while they young boy slept on his shoulder, said that when he first began his 30 minute walk, the boy was sitting on his shoulders.
“I guess he grew tired of that and decided to take a nap,” said Taylor in his distinct British accent.
Taylor had responded to a vendor who called to inform the police about the unidentified child who said he didn’t know where his mother was.
“They were really nice people as well,” Taylor said of the vendors who had called in the report, “but they didn’t have time to watch a child, obviously, because they were working.
“When we got back to the station he played for a while outside so I sat out there with him to keep an eye on him.”
When asked if the boy’s parents had called to thank him he said, “No” with a confused expression.
“I don’t need any ‘thank you’ I’m just glad he got home,” said the obviously humble officer.
“I’m no different than anyone else on this force.”
