Miss Rayne Pageant set, contestants sought

Young ladies interested in competing for Miss Rayne 2015 are being invited to attend an orientation at Rayne City Hall in the Council Chambers, 801 The Boulevard, on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 6 p.m.
The ‘Safari’ themed Miss Rayne Competition will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Rayne Civic Center.
To be eligible to compete for the title of Miss Rayne, (1) you must be 16 years of age and not older than 22 years of age; (2) you must be single and have never been married or had a marriage annulled; (3) you must not be pregnant or have never borne a child; (4) you must be of good moral character and never been convicted of any felony; (5) must have a Rayne address or telephone number or attend a school servicing the Rayne community.
The competition will consist of the following segments; Interview – (held the afternoon of the competition); Typically there will be a panel of three judges that will visit with each contestant for a period of approximately 5 minutes; Questions may be asked concerning information covered on the entry form and general items of interest about the City of Rayne (no family members will be allowed to attend this portion of the competition); Sportswear and Introductions; Choreographed dance number and a maximum 30 second introduction; Evening Gown – on stage competition in an evening gown of choice; On Stage Interview including two lighthearted questions.
Awards will be presented as follows: Queen - Supreme Crown, banner, silver tray, flowers, car signs for parades, monetary scholarship upon successful completion of reign which will be awarded upon verification of enrollment at an accredited educational institution of higher learning, and entry to following Frog Festival Queen’s Pageant; 1st Maid - banner, petite crown as princess to International Rice Festival; 2nd Maid - banner, petite crown as princess to Miss Acadia Parish Pageant in Crowley; 3rd Maid - banner, petite crown as princess to Courir de Mardi Gras in Church Point; Miss Congeniality - banner; and People’s Choice - silver tray (people attending will be given the opportunity to vote for a “People’s Choice” (popularity vote) for $1 per vote (a photo will be needed to post at voting space).

Miss Rayne Orientation – Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. at City Hall Council Chamber;
Dance Practice – Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 23 and 24, at 6 p.m. at Rayne Civic Center;
Dress Rehearsal – Friday, Sept. 25, 6 p.m. at Rayne Civic Center;
Miss Rayne Interviews – Saturday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. at Rayne Civic Center;
Miss Rayne Competition – Saturday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. at Rayne Civic Center.
