Pat Bordes II named 2016 Frog Festival Parade Marshal
This year’s Frog Festival Grand Parade Marshal Pat Bordes II was cited for his community involvement and contributing to job creation when he was named Saturday night during the Frog Festival Queens Pageant and Ball at the Civic Center.
Bordes was named the parade marshal based on the nomination letter submitted by Jena Bordes and Dawn R. Gerbine.
The letter, which was read aloud during the pageant presentation, said:
“We are nominating Winford Patrick Bordes II. Pat has contributed to the area by creating jobs, being civically involved and a community leader.
“Pat opened Fezzo’s in 1999, with a partner. Since the opening of Fezzo’s, they have opened a second location in Scott with a third location in the works and opened Rochetto’s. Pat created valuable jobs by opening these businesses in the area.
“Pat has served in several civic organizations. He is currently serving as the president for One Acadia, as well as one of the founders of One Acadia. He served as past Chamber Board President and is a chamber member. He is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Rayne.
“He gives his personal time to speak at the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program with the church, as well as attending and helping in the This Man Is You program. He has donated playground equipment to Rayne Catholic Elementary School.
“He has actively participated in Rayne Chamber of Commerce events. He donates annually to the Frog Festival and has graciously served as Grand Court King III.
“Please consider Pat as the 2016 Grand Marshall. He has served the Chamber and continues to serve the Chamber. He would be a great representation of our City and the Frog Festival.”
Also acknowledged during the pageant were parade marshal nominees Kim Cummins, Tony Olinger, and Al and Burgundy Olivier.
