Police: Rayne man linked to 4 bank robberies with DNA

LAFAYETTE – Thanks to DNA, a 56-year-old Rayne man has been linked to four Lafayette bank robberies, dating back to December 2013.

Lafayette Police Department detectives were able to make the profile match with the use of the Combined DNA Index System, commonly known as CODIS. The Acadiana Crime Lab used evidence collected from on of the crime scenes to make the match, according to police.

Arrested without incident was Muhammed Abdullah Nur. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on four counts of first-degree robbery.

The banks Nur is charged with are Midsouth Bank (Dec. 11, 2013), Chase and Home Bank (Jan. 10) and Chase Bank (Feb. 6).
