Rayne gas rupture causes I-10 stutdown

RAYNE - In addition to a major traffic fatality on I-10 west of Rayne, local authorities were called to the northeast portion of the the city at the I-10/Hwy 35 intersection where a two-inch natural gas line was ruptured, causing both directions of traffic between Crowley and Duson closed for hours Tuesday afternoon.

As reported by Rayne Fire Chief Allen "Noochie" Credeur, a major gas line near Nation Road was ruptured during ongoing construction, causing traffic halted east of Rayne due to its close proximity to the interstate.

In addition to the Rayne Fire Department, Rayne Police and Center Point Energy were called out to the scene of the rupture.
